This machine marks a new era in terms of residual shrinkage and fabric appearance

- Description
The method used by Muzzi is the controlled compressive shrinking method, in other words, the fabric is mechanically shrunk in the so called shrinking group.
A rubber belt is guided around a steam heated cylinder. At the point where the fabric is introduced into the shrinking group, the rubber belt, by means of a pressure roll, is pressed against the steam heated cylinder with a variable pressure according to the desired shrinkage percentage. This operation makes the rubber expand at the introduction of the fabric: si the higher the pressure, the higher in the expansion. At that moment the fabric is introduced into the group. Once the rubber belt leaves the pressure point, the expanded part returns to its original state. So the fabric in contact with the expanded rubber must necessarily undergo the same movement as the rubber: in other words the fabric is forced to shrink because it slips against the smooth and heated surface of the main cylinder while it is compressed by the rubber belt.
This method is called controlled compressive shrinking because it is possible to set the desired shrinkage percentage, that is, major is the pressure on the rubber belt, the higher is the shrinkage.
